Sept. 23 POA Meeting Postponed!
Happy September everyone! We hope all those heading back to school had a terrific start and are settling into the new year well. A quick programming note: these newsletters will be sent out once a month through the remainder of the year vs. more frequently over this past summer.
Rain cancellation: POA meeting
Please join us for our last summer POA meeting on Saturday, September 30th – not tomorrow, Saturday, September 23rd. Given the likelihood of rain, we need to push back the meeting. But do come the following week to Children’s Beach for our meeting and the POA elections. We’ll follow the meeting with our annual neighborhood BBQ.
RBL 5K raises $7K
A big THANK YOU to everyone who came out to the Roaring Brook Lake 5K run. The run raised almost $7,000 for Second Chance Foods (SCF) and all of that came from this wonderful community. Special thanks to all the people who volunteered, ran, walked, drove, donated, officiated, policed, nursed and cheered everyone on!
Take our POA Survey
Send us your suggestions for the website, POA initiatives, and if you’d like to volunteer via this quick five-question survey here.
The survey will be open through end of year. It is anonymous and we are not collecting or tracking responder emails. Please feel free to share with other family members, including your teenagers who may have ideas for our lake as well.
If you have any trouble with or questions about the survey itself, please reach out to Akshi@writetofederici@gmail.com.
District budget meeting update
The final district budget meeting was held on Saturday, September 9th. It was brief and went well. We will not see a large tax increase in our district taxes this year (the increase is close to zero). We are going to standardize the hours that the lifeguards are on duty next year. They will work from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM during the week and from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekends. There will be no lifeguards at Moon Beach during the week.
Lake lowering to start in October
Members of the RBLPOA and the Lake Preservation Committee met on Saturday September 2nd at Park Beach to discuss lowering the lake this winter. We decided to drawdown 5 feet by Thanksgiving. The best time to start will be determined depending on the existing lake level and the forecast, but will likely take place starting in October. The town will be reaching out to AJ Reyes, our lake supervisor, to request the long-term erosion control plan for Park beach, which will be performed at a later date. And there was a discussion on extending the sand reclamation at Children’s Beach to reclaim the sand as close as possible to the shoreline as permitted next to the houses.
Don’t forget to pay your POA dues here!
Upcoming Dates:
