Watch for turtles!
We’ve officially entered one of our three Turtle crossing seasons at Roaring Brook Lake. Turtles are beginning to lay their eggs in beaches and yards around the lake; expect to see them crossing the road to make their way to their nests along the shoreline. Please brake for the turtles – they are vital to the ecosystem of the lake. And if you see any turtle struggling to cross the road and want to give them a bit of a push, read more about how to help here. Just be careful around the fully grown snapping turtles. They’re very timid and shy in the water – but they’ll get defensive on dry land! Enjoy the turtle sightings, and stay tuned for August when the eggs start to hatch…
