RBLPOA Meeting 13th August 2022 - with Sheriff McConville

At the August 13 RBLPOA meeting, we reviewed the preliminary 2023 budget from the town.

A few highlights:

  • The total budget requested is $259,335.

  • Nearly half of the budget goes toward recycling and trash pickup.

  • The town has requested we hire a second team to give us a proposal on the Dam Engineering Project. That cost will be $35,000.

  • We plan to continue to invest in the valuable lake monitoring, which allows us to keep up the health of the lake overall, as well as work to request grants from the State for lake improvements.

Roaring Brook Lake requested budget for two more projects not listed on the budget:

  • First, $7,000 to remove old and dilapidated boats and to repair the racks at Children’s Beach.

  • Second, $30,000 to dredge the cove by Children’s Beach and the cove by Park’s Beach. The plan is to bring the dredged land to Children’s Beach to fill in low spots.

If you have any questions, or want to discuss changes to the budget, please get in touch with RBL POA president Mike Moculski, at president@rblpoa.com or attend the town budget meeting on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 9am.

We also heard from Sheriff McConville, who came to office in January. He discussed his priorities, including investing in more deputies, buying more modern equipment, and school security.

We’ll have our last POA meeting of the summer directly following the town budget meeting. We’ll meet at 10am at Children’s Beach. And, in celebration of a fantastic summer on the lake, we’ll have a free BBQ thanks to extra burgers and hotdogs left over from the Regatta. The local fire department has kindly stored them in their freezers for us. Come and join us!
