Upcoming RBLPOA MEETING Schedule

All meetings will be held at Children’s Beach, weather permitting, at 9:30am. We will post a summary of the meeting a few days later to RBLPOA.com.

Saturday, August 14, RBLPOA Meeting at Children’s Beach at 9:30am

Community Solar: Hear from Town Councilperson Ralph Smith about Putnam Valley’s new opt-in Community Solar Program. Putnam Valley residents who choose to opt-in to the new program will receive a 10% discount on solar electricity, a $100 signing bonus in the form of a VISA gift card, and a $100 donation to Putnam Valley for each resident who chooses to sign up. How does that work? The short answer is that New York State's goal of a clean electric grid has established policies that compel utilities to purchase solar electricity from third party suppliers if their utility customers choose to purchase that power. As an incentive, the solar farms pass some of those earnings back to the consumer and towns. Interested? Come this Saturday, Aug 14, at 9:30 am and learn more.

RBLPOA Board membership nominations for the 2021 - 2023 term. Hear about the slate of new nominees for the Board. Nominations will also be taken from the floor, provided the nominee has three (3) seconds. (Nominations may also be made by petition signed by 20 RBLPOA members and received within 8 days of the meeting — by 8/22/21).

Suggestions for new RBL District budget items for the 2022 fiscal year will be taken from the floor. The preliminary RBL District budget hearing will be on August 28 at 9 am at Town Hall.

Covid 19 risk, unfortunately, remains Very High in Putnam County, with about 14 new infections daily. Please seat yourself in small groups, leaving 6 feet of space between groups. Masks are strongly encouraged, but not required. If you are eligible, please get vaccinated. Protect yourself, your family, and your neighbors.

Sat, August 28 | The RBLPOA Biennial Meeting, 9:45 am. We will hold the RBLPOA biennial elections for officers and board, discuss proposed new RBLPOA Constitutional amendments, and review the preliminary Town Board budget for RBL.

Please note: Only members of the RBLPOA, present in person, can vote on the election (but everyone is welcome to the meeting and has a voice in discussion). Neither the RBLPOA nor the community votes on the District Budget. Only the Putnam Valley Town-elected Supervisor and Town Board Members can make decisions or vote on RBL District issues and budget. The RBLPOA does, however, make recommendations in an advisory capacity to the Town Board.

Read the proposed amended RBLPOA Constitution (clean copy) here, and with changes marked here

Sat, Sept. 11 at 9:45 am. We will review the final RBL District budget and copies will be handed out to attendees. The total budget runs between $200,000 to $240,000 and is derived from property taxes on the District properties. About half of the budget goes for garbage collection. There is another 15% that goes to non-discretionary payments, including legal, clerical, administration, plowing fire lanes, insurance, workers comp, etc. Therefore, the actual discretionary budget is about $80,000 and includes lifeguard salaries, maintenance of beaches, lake monitoring, management of invasive species/poison ivy, tags and stickers, etc.

Regatta With regret, the RBLPOA Board has decided not to hold a Regatta this year. Putnam County has moved from Low Risk (green) to High Risk (orange), as new Covid cases in Putnam County have increased dramatically. If you are eligible, please get vaccinated. Protect yourself, your family, and your neighbors.
